The Red Lodge Museum

The Red Lodge Museum

Often described as Bristol’s ‘hidden treasure’ because of its magnificent Tudor rooms.

Seven rooms over two floors which tell the history of the house, from its Tudor origins to its role as a Victorian girls’ reform school.

Budget proposals - impact on the historic houses

The Mayor’s initial draft budget proposals proposed a review of Red Lodge, Georgian House, Blaise Castle Museum and the Roman Villa at Lawrence Weston, aiming to keep them open whilst moving the cost away from the public purse. This has since been removed from the Mayor’s budget proposals. No decision will be made until Full Council debates the budget on 18 February, but if the proposal remains removed then no saving would be required.

We are still looking at every option for keeping these valued venues open and available to the public, whether funded by the council or in another way. Whatever decision is made, they will remain open as usual in 2014 so please do come for a visit.
