The Grange

The Grange

Augustus Pugin built this house in 1843- 4 to live in with his family. It was at The Grange that Pugin produced the designs for the interiors of the House of Lords and the Medieval Court at the Great Exhibition but he reserved some of his finest and most characteristic flourishes for his own home. The Landmark Trust, a building preservation charity, has undertaken a major restoration of the building which is now available for holidays all year round. Full details of The Grange and 189 other historic and architecturally important buildings are featured in the Landmark Trust Handbook (£10 plus P&P refundable against a booking) and on the website.
