Castle Of Mey

Castle Of Mey

The holiday home of The Queen Mother in Caithness and the only property in Britain that she owned. She bought the Castle in 1952, saved it from becoming a ruin and developed the gardens. It became her ideal holiday home because of the beautiful surroundings and the privacy she was always given. There is a purpose-built Visitor Centre with shop and tearoom and also an animal centre for children.
