Cambridge and County Folk Museum is a place to explore the life and times of Cambridge people in this friendly social history museum. Housed in the former White House Inn the Folk Museum was set up in 1936 by leading members of the town and university with the aim to interest the ordinary citizen in aspects of local social life which were fast disappearing in Cambridgeshire, an ethos which is still held today.
Experience the wonderful and varied collections of domestic and work life in nine warm room settings. Revisit the toys from your childhood and the folklore of the area. Enjoy the exhibitions and family friendly events throughout the year that bring the displays to life. On Saturdays we’ve created a quiet haven for those who enjoy a good cup of tea and delicious homemade cakes. Our cakes are specially baked for us by two of the best cake makers in Cambridge - Mandy and Melissa of Zest Catering. All our crockery is vintage and all proceeds go to supporting our treasure of a museum.
Our Museum shop is fully stocked with a range of unique quality items, cards, books, toys & games - many locally made. We look forward to seeing you soon!
