Outwardly this is a simple church, set in trees by a lane with fields and a handful of buildings nearby. Yet step inside St Faith’s and your view of the Medieval world changes.
Wallpaintings of vines laden with grapes spiral over arches and ove the wall, edged with deep red. And wallpaintings show scenes from the Bible some ghostly, others brilliant - stretched across the north wall with a St Christopher at the west end and a St Georg and the Dragon at the east.
This is an authentic Medieval church a riot of colour and pattern, with picture stories that could be read by a largely illiterate congregation.
